My Philosophy:

My Reiki Master, Linda Flowers Norton, was trained before Diane Stein's wonderful book, Essential Reiki was published (1995, The Crossing Press, Berkeley). I was fortunate enough to benefit from Ms. Stein's book and among my circle of Reiki practioners it is fondly referred to as the "bible" of Reiki.

However, as my master was trained through the Usui Reiki Ryoho tradtions, I, too, have my disagreements with some of Ms. Stein's practices. Primarily, I am uncomfortable with attuning an individual to Levels I & II in the same day or weekend. For myself, each Reiki attunement brought on tremendous emotional (as well as physical) healing. At times it was painful in that it blessed me with the opportunity to face old hurts and release them.

In hindsight, it was all good--truly a blessing because I succeeded in facing my lessons. I could not have done it without the tender care of my master over the several months I metamorphosed. It is unimaginable to me to face what I did all at one time. Each individual has his own experience and only through the relationship of the master and the student can the proper timing for the next level be determined.

At one time it was required to have a year of practical experience before progressing to the next level. There is still some wisdom in that. I do agree with Ms. Stein that Reiki is desperately needed and it is important to spread it as far and wide as we are able.

When I used to hear others say, "Reiki changed my life," I was sure they were being dramatic. I am here to tell you now, "Reiki changed my life, actually, it saved my life." No exaggeration! (Refer to my bio for details). I am more "me" since I found Reiki (it found me, actually). What do I mean? I like me more, no, I LOVE me more.

I am more comfortable with myself, more sure and confident, stronger emotionally and physically and healthier. I am happier, there is more joy and fun in my life. I feel more fulfilled, a stronger sense of purpose and like I know what I am suppose to be doing here. I am very, very grateful to Master Linda for attuning and mentoring me. And I am grateful to Sheila Z Stirling ("Sheila Z") for sending me to Master Linda.
